Granberg Alaskan Mill Review

I purchased this mill some time ago and have cut many boards with it, so it's time for a review. I should note that this mill is meant for bars up to 20", however I was using a 24" bar on my MS-441 most of the time. The only issue I ran into with this was that the bar could tend to drift on the right side, since it is not secured to the mill. A bit of upward pressure with my left hand on the saw handle fixed this.
I found using a 2x4 or 2x6 was the easiest way to do the first cut. Just screw it to the log with deck screws and ensure it is level throughout. Since logs are irregular, long screws are needed. Be sure to set the depth of your first cut beyond the length of these screws, then readjust to the thickness you want for the next cuts.
The mill is easy to use and pretty easy to adjust. I bought a ratcheting box wrench just for this purpose, but the bolts can be driven with your chainsaw scrench as well. (If I'm not mistaken, you can assemble the entire mill out of the box with just your scrench)
I find myself partial to archer chains for ripping, and they are in fact the cheapest trusted brand I could find. The finish is rough as you'd expect, and will need to be planed.
